I read an article about business in Japan and select one related to an aspect of shipment. I select this topic because it provides me a plenty room for economic point of view. It's a good experience for me understanding the importance of copper in business in Japan. This article talks about the shipment of copper cable increase in Japan because of the country's export-led economy grew. Shipments in Japan increased to 59,700 metric tons in July by comparing with with 58,032 metric tons last year. Also, shipments for the construction sector declined 3.6 percent in July from a year earlier. Anyway, Japanese policy makers have to work hard for policy planning since Japanese yen is stronger. Thus, policy makers have to make recovery by expanding fiscal spending and loosening monetary policy to weaken the yen.
After I finished reading this article, I realize that economic data are very important for economic forecast. For me, I don't know much about "economic terms" such as GDP, fiscal spending etc., so some points of this article makes me confused. By the way, I have to read more and understand more about economic terms since I am going to study Business in MUIC.
